"Art is how I translate where I'm from to everywhere I'm going."

Born and raised in Paramaribo, Suriname, Romario Sankante grew up surrounded by a blend of cultures — Creole rhythm, Hindustani melody, Javanese tradition and Maroon storytelling. That mosaic became his earliest creative training.

Today he moves between studios, sets and showrooms — recording records, taking roles in front of the camera, and building LukuLuku, a brand designed to carry Surinamese identity into a global wardrobe.

Whatever the medium, the throughline is the same: tell the truth, look the part, bring the culture.
